Christophe Demaitre born 1968, Kortrijk, Belgium.Commenced studying arts in Kortrijk and Gent. He continued his education into photographic research during his travels which took him to Asia and thoughout Europe. In 1997, he moved to Italy, where he remained for six years. During this phase of his he developed various academic techniques in painting. He undertook a year in Barcelona within the context of various international art exhibitions. In 2003 He back to Brussels, Belgium,where his photographic and pictoral research depart in the world around and led him flowering in the concept of Metropolis. 2006 Demaitre was invited by island 6 Shanghai for an artist resident programme, where he start to use electronic elements into his work. He was fasinating of the city and decide to live and work in Shanghai. His work is part of public and private collections all over the world.
